Coffee Talks 2012 presents Millennium Development Goal #2 - Universal Education

Our featured speaker, Leigh Adams will share her experiences teaching at the Rudolph Steiner School, Mbagathi, Nairobi – 20 kilometers south of Nairobi on the Masai plains. Here in Sub-Saharan Africa, where a vast majority of children have no access to primary education, the school serves 300 children Kindergarten to 8th grade. About a quarter are boarders; the remainder come daily from further afield.

In addition to Nairobi, Leigh has taught art in Costa Rica, China, Baja, Kenya and locally. A National Endowment of the Arts Folk Artist of the Year nominee in 2009, 2010 & 2011, Leigh is currently Artist-in-Residence at the Los Angeles County Arboretum where she co-designed its first permaculture garden.
